"Monument of Questions" – Hannover

In 2005, the 30th German Protestant "Kirchentag" church congress was held in Hannover, and the "Monument of Questions" art project was successfully implemented with the support of the "Lebendige Stadt" Foundation.

The motto for the church congress - "If your child asks you tomorrow ..." - encouraged people to pose questions to God and the world in general. Questions that move and interest us were collected and written on patchwork ribbons. The students from class 2B at the elementary school in Hemmingen-Westerfeld also had questions to ask: "What is time and where does it come from" or "Why do we turn into soil after we die?". Then, on May 22, 2005, young expert climbers scaled the purpose-built 20-meter high wooden tower on the Theodor-Lessing Platz square to tie several thousand ribbons to the structure. People in Hannover had the chance to see the "Monument of Questions" up to the end of October 2005.
