Projects

Following an evaluation of its activities to date, the Foundation is committed to bringing a sharper focus to its support and promotion activities in public urban spaces. These activities can be assigned to the individual core themes of the Foundation – light, green or developed space - or simultaneously to more than one of these themes.

“shining history” in the Kurpark location

More and more smaller towns are meanwhile profiting from the know-how of the "Lebendige Stadt" Foundation.

Hamburg-based light designer Michael Batz, also a member of the Executive Committee of the Foundation, has now developed an illumination concept for an historic pump installation in the town of Unna in North Rhine-Westphalia.

Unna is home to the "art of illumination". The town in the eastern Ruhr region boasts the only museum worldwide exclusively devoted to the fascination of light. "Light has always been a central element in the image of the town", says Unna Cultural Affairs Director Axel Sedlack. "So it was only logical for us to take this next step."
