Entry for the 2020 Foundation Award
“The Best Local History Museum” Attractive – Inclusive – Forward-Looking
The “Lebendige Stadt” Foundation calls on museums, towns and municipalities to enter for the Foundation Award 2020.
The award is open to local history museums who adopt a forward-looking strategy by picking up on changes in society and adapting their concepts to this changing landscape. Concepts in this area include the use of modern technologies as well as inclusive educational programmes designed to appeal to new visitor groups and to interest them in the local history and culture of the town or region.
Museums shape our cultural landscape and have always served as places of communication and encounter. Above all, however, they are educational venues for the people who live in or visit a specific town, municipality or region. Museums are realising the need to address a wide range of societal trends such as demographic change and growing migration and emigration – and to develop exhibition concepts that cater to the changing expectations of potential visitors.
The Foundation seeks to promote best practice examples that can serve as models for other towns and municipalities This is why particular importance is attached to inventive, long-term and cost-efficient solutions. The award carries a total cash prize of 15,000 euros. Entries are to be sent by June 30, 2020 to:
